Description

Position Summary: The Trial Attorney will defend GNY’s insureds in litigation of cases in New York Metropolitan area, handling cases from inception of litigation through verdict or settlement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attend depositions, court conferences and trials.
  • Manage pleadings and documentary discovery.
  • Evaluate liability and damages and report to carrier.
  • Conduct legal research and motions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor and admitted to the NY State Bar required.
  • 5-12 years of experience in general negligence litigation, including Labor Law.
  • Must have recent jury trial experience litigating multimillion dollar cases to verdict.
  • Ability to handle litigations cases without oversight.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 required.
  • Legal case management programs required, Neos preferred.
Skills:
  • Excellent oral and writing skills documented by decisions on summary judgment motions or appellate briefs.
  • Excellent research ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and efficiently prioritize work required.  This includes balancing court appearances, depositions and administrative work.
  • Superior research skills and the ability to analyze complex matters required.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to travel to court appearances, site inspections and depositions throughout the New York Metropolitan area on a daily basis.

The salary range for this role is $74,600 - $187,800. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs.  Base pay is just one component of GNY’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
