About the role:  

The Senior Database Developer/Modeler will support the development of the Website DataMart by designing, modeling, and optimizing database solutions that integrate and aggregate data from multiple client systems. This individual will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture, transformation processes, and integrity of the database and reporting environment. 

Location: Remote  

Project Duration: 2.5 years, with potential for extension 

What you'll do: 

  • Support the development of the Website DataMart to aggregate data from multiple client systems 

  • Build secure and optimized SQL Server objects (views, stored procedures, tables, etc.) to support the needs of both public websites and internal applications 

  • Write and optimize SQL statements for data access and stored procedures for high performance  

  • Assist in data model design using best practices for scalability, normalization, and performance 

  • Perform regular database management duties including backups and audits to ensure that SQL databases remain accessible, secure, and stable  

  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business users to identify and implement data and reporting solutions 

  • Ensure data integrity and support data quality control processes across the solution 

  • Document database architecture, design decisions, and procedures for long-term support and maintainability 

What you'll need: 

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in database development and data modeling with SQL Server 

  • Technologies: Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server 2014/2016/2019, SQL Server Data Tools, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI 

  • Strong knowledge of database architecture and performance optimization techniques 

  • Proficiency in stored procedures, views, indexing strategies, and query optimization 

  • Familiarity with data integration from multiple sources and large datasets 

  • Experience with SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), SSIS, and Power BI integration 

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders 

  • Experience supporting both internal data applications and external-facing data requirements 

  • Experience working with New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) or other municipal agencies is a plus
