About the Opportunity:
Hornblower is seeking an experienced Senior Public Relations Manager to lead strategic media relations efforts that advance the company’s positioning within the travel and tourism industry. Reporting to the Senior Director of Social Media , this role will oversee local port PR agencies and manage the Public Relations Manager to ensure the execution of cohesive and effective communications strategies. The Senior PR Manager will play a key role in shaping and promoting Hornblower’s evolving brand narrative, securing targeted media coverage, and elevating the visibility of company leadership. This position requires a results-driven professional with a strong background in travel and tourism PR, capable of aligning messaging across the corporate brand and City Cruises products to support business objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of public relations strategies that generate earned media coverage across print, broadcast, and digital outlets
- Manage, mentor, and support the Public Relations Manager to ensure quality, timely execution of local and national campaigns
- Oversee relationships with local port public relations agencies, providing strategic guidance, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with broader brand messaging
- Cultivate strong relationships with local, regional, and national media contacts across travel, lifestyle, and business categories
- Pitch stories to media proactively and coordinate interviews, press trips, and media event
- Pitch and secure media coverage and speaking opportunities to position company leadership as industry thought leaders, collaborating with internal teams to align leadership visibility efforts with Hornblower’s corporate brand and City Experiences and City Cruises products
- Develop and edit compelling press materials, including releases, media kits, and messaging documents
- Develop executive messaging, speaker materials, and coordinate leadership participation in interviews, panels, and awards
- Collaborate with internal teams to align leadership visibility efforts with Hornblower’s corporate brand and City Cruises products
- Track and analyze PR coverage and metrics to evaluate success and optimize future efforts
- Support and help execute influencer and content creator partnerships, working with internal teams and agencies to manage content development and approvals
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive news, and emerging PR tactics to inform strategy and ensure relevance
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across marketing, brand, and social media to ensure cohesive campaign execution
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in public relations, preferably in the travel, tourism, hospitality, or consumer lifestyle industries
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing direct reports and/or agency teams, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop talent
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing integrated PR strategies that drive media coverage, elevate brand visibility, and support business goals
- Established media relationships with national, regional, and local reporters across lifestyle, travel, business, and broadcast verticals
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio that includes press releases, pitches, media kits, and messaging documents
- Experience in managing influencer and creator collaborations, including vetting, negotiation, content review, and partnership measurement
- Ability to analyze earned media results and translate them into actionable insights and reports
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable collaborating across cross-functional teams and representing the PR function in meetings with senior leadership
The position will be a full-time remote position, with willingness and ability to travel for content capture, events, or brand activations; some weekend or evening availability may be required based on campaign needs.
