Job description

Our story:

Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound confidence.

Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix, Steuerbot and TaxScouts, is a compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts, developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016

Your Challenge:

As our General Ledger Accountant (d/f/m) you will support the preparation and accuracy of our financial reporting under HGB and IFRS. You will contribute to the harmonization of local GAAPs into HGB and assist in IFRS reporting processes, playing a key role in our monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.

Reporting to the Head of Operational Finance, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant, timely, and accurate reporting while also participating in ongoing improvements to our consolidation workflows. Your role will involve a mix of recurring accounting tasks and project-based work. From supporting audit processes and documentation to performing essential day-to-day accounting operations like posting journal entries and reconciling accounts, you'll help maintain the integrity and efficiency of our financial processes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under HGB and IFRS, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

  • Assist in the harmonization of local GAAPs into HGB and contribute to IFRS reporting processes under guidance from senior team members.

  • Help maintain compliance with accounting standards by applying HGB and IFRS principles.

  • Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, supporting the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and ensuring data consistency.

  • Collaborate in the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits, helping to respond to auditor inquiries and follow-up actions.

  • Follow established internal accounting policies and assist in documenting procedures, with a focus on accuracy and control.

  • Join project-based work as needed, such as:

    • Supporting the implementation of ERP enhancements and accounting automation initiatives.

    • Assisting in data preparation for IFRS conversion or consolidation processes.

  • Work closely with other departments, providing financial data and clarifying accounting entries.

  • Perform day-to-day operational accounting tasks such as posting journal entries, booking accruals, and supporting the accounts reconciliation process.

Your Profile

  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting, ideally with a focus on general ledger activities.

  • Solid understanding of HGB principles; exposure to IFRS is a plus and willingness to learn is expected.

  • Accurate and detail-oriented approach to financial data and accounting processes.

  • Enthusiastic about growing in a fast-paced finance environment with a mindset of continuous learning.

  • Some experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and accounting tools (e.g., DATEV) is desirable.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with numbers.

  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken) to collaborate across teams.

  • Basic awareness of tax-related topics (VAT, corporate tax) and willingness to develop further knowledge.

  • Interest in process optimization and openness to learning about automation tools and AI-driven enhancements.

Why Taxfix?

  • 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours.

  • A generous learning budget to support your personal and professional development and guidance from our internal L&D experts.

  • Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip.

  • Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions.
