Ruby on Rails Developer - Middle/Senior

Overview & Purpose

SOFTSWISS is hiring a Middle/Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join our Casino Platform team.
You’ll work on our modular iGaming platform used by 1,300+ brands worldwide, driving innovation, scalability, and performance in a high-load, distributed environment.

Purpose of the Role

You’ll develop and evolve backend services to ensure performance, stability, and scalability across our casino operations platform. Your work will impact thousands of users by delivering a reliable, secure, and efficient system architecture.
You’ll contribute to long-term technical strategy while mentoring teammates and upholding engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the full development cycle, from backlog refinement and testing to launching new features and implementing technical improvements.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable application architecture.
• Review, maintain, and refactor existing code to ensure high performance, security, and maintainability.
• Investigate and implement new technologies to enhance platform efficiency and stability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Tech Stack

• Backend: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Sidekiq, Redis, WebSockets
• Infrastructure & Tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Vault, MinIO, Swagger, Dry-rb, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD
• Monitoring: Datadog, Zabbix, Sentry, Kibana

Required Experience

• 4+ years of commercial experience with Ruby/Ruby on Rails.
• Strong command of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data structures, and algorithm optimisation.
• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and CS fundamentals.
• Skilled in debugging, performance tuning, and solving complex system issues.
• Comfortable working in English and Russian (Intermediate+ level).

Nice to Have

• Understanding of Ruby on Rails key concepts and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with event streaming systems and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
  • Experience in database and application performance tuning (query optimisation, indexing strategies, caching techniques).
  • Strong test-driven development (TDD) skills and experience writing specs with RSpec.
  • Knowledge of scalable system architecture design.
