Wolf is the platform behind the next generation of staffing companies. We help firms launch their own talent marketplaces — complete with jobseeker apps, client portals, and internal recruiter tools — all white-labeled and powered by Wolf’s engine.
We’re looking for a Ruby on Rails Architect to join us remotely and help build the backbone of modern flexible work. You’ll be driving the technical vision for our platform as well as writing code, working on everything from scheduling and payments to multi-tenant logic, API design, and internal tooling.
This role is perfect for someone who’s comfortable in a startup — fast-moving, pragmatic, product-minded — and excited to help build our processes and practices, as well as bring technical excellence to real-world features that impact thousands of workers.
Your Impact:
Lead architectural decisions and backend development, in both serverful and serverless infrastructure. Bonus points for domain-driven design experience!
Own and enhance system design for scalability, reliability, usability, and performance.
Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
Bring your point of view and experience to work across the company, so we all improve and win together.
Write and maintain high-quality, scalable Ruby code.
Design and build robust, scalable APIs using AWS API Gateway.
Build integrations with third-party applications and services, as well as the platforms and services that will power them.
Improve system observability, monitoring, and alerting.
Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve performance bottlenecks and bugs.
Collaborate with front-end engineers to ensure seamless API integration (Vue or React experience is a plus).
Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and DevOps.
What’s In It for You?
A role where you can make an immediate impact for real people who run their business on your code.
You’ll work with sharp, low-ego people who move fast and laugh often.
Competitive salary + performance-based bonuses.
A fast-paced environment where your ideas matter.
The opportunity to grow with a high-potential, venture-backed startup.
What You Bring:
Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Senior/Staff Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar role designing and building systems in a high-scale production environment.
Expertise in Ruby (minimum 3 years) on production applications, and ideally with PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, and RSpec as well.
Strong AWS experience, particularly with serverless architecture (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, RDS, S3, Beanstalk).
Experience mentoring engineers, driving technical decisions, and working with product and design teams to solve problems. Even better if you’ve worked directly with customers also!
Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
Deep understanding of software design patterns, scalability, security best practices, evaluating third-party tools, and managing tech debt.
Experience with testing frameworks and automated test strategies.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to plan and execute work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus: Experience with front-end frameworks like Vue or React.
