Description

Base Wage: $ 17.50/ HR

PURPOSE:

Participate in an on-going and preventive maintenance program for grounds and areas assigned.  Works as a team player with a common goal of providing a safe and clean environment for all persons living and working at Little City Foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.

1.    Maintain work areas assigned.

2.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance is required to start his or her 6:30 am shift by signing in and complete their             shift by signing out at 3:00 pm daily; however, winter schedules and winter hours may vary. 

3.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance successfully maintains and completes all Little City Foundation training and           orientation, also keeps Human Resources up-to-date with any change of status.  Grounds Keeper is required to follow         all department procedures.

4.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance is required to report and communicate all work safety related issues of any                sort to Exterior Maintenance Supervisor.

5.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance is required to perform duties in all other Facility Maintenance areas as                      directed  by Leadership. This includes, but is not limited to: any Little City set up, special events, set-up furniture,               moving, donation pick-ups, and snow removal, etc.

6.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance is responsible for exterior painting, as needed.

7.    Interior and exterior cleaning of vehicles and equipment on a regular basis.

8.    Daily trash pick-up at any Little City property.

9.     Will be responsible for seasonal equipment and maintenance changeovers (i.e. winter to spring/spring to winter).

10.    Daily preparation work dependent upon Little City Foundation and weather related needs. This may include fueling           snow blowers ahead of an impending storm and filling salt dispensers. 

11.    Daily review and update of open 360 requests and completed 360 requests. 

12.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance will be required to turn in all paperwork, as directed by Exterior                                Maintenance  Supervisor.

13.    Grounds Keeper/Exterior Maintenance will be required to follow directions, lift and move heavy and light items and           be able to use a road map for directions.

14.    Successfully completes Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required              by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor. This may also                 include an annual American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a High School diploma or GED. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance and be able to operate listed equipment; lawn equipment, snow blowers and snow plows.    Must be able to perform heavy lifting repetitively. Ability to follow verbal directions and use road maps for directions. Per policy, must meet Little City’s insurance requirements in order to be maintained on the Approved Driver’s List.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, pull, lift, grasp and feel. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when handling equipment and power tools. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places: fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock. The employee must continuously lift support, and/or move 60 or more pounds of weight, and frequently lift, support, and/or move up to 50 pounds in difficult work positions of weight. The noise level is normal to loud. No occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances (Category I). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
