The ideal candidate is a seasoned product leader with a deep understanding of IT security, a strategic thinker, and a strong communicator. The Lead Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable, and innovative technology solutions that meet federal government standards, while providing technical leadership, ensuring compliance, and driving collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve mission-critical objectives. You will work closely with government counterparts, digital experience teams, and a cross-functional team to deliver secure, high-quality solutions. You will be adept at leveraging a structured approach to decision-making that aligns with IT security best practices, compliance requirements, and measurable outcomes.



This is a full-time W2 position. 

You must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Vaultes does not provide visa sponsorship. 

You must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain/maintain a valid Security Clearance. 

Requirements

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems and architectures in alignment with federal government standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, ensuring systems are optimized for both current needs and future growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers, and other stakeholders, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve system functionality, security, and maintainability.
  • Ensure compliance with federal IT policies, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and other applicable security frameworks.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing systems, identifying opportunities for enhancement, modernization, and risk mitigation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Oversee system integration efforts, ensuring compatibility across diverse platforms and adherence to federal interoperability standards.
  • Perform detailed documentation of system designs, processes, and configurations, ensuring clarity and compliance with federal record-keeping requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by staying updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and apply them to federal projects where applicable.
  • Participate in and lead technical discussions with government stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Support the implementation of DevSecOps practices, automating deployment processes, and integrating security throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and optimization, addressing scalability, reliability, and security requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in system engineering, architecture, or related technical leadership roles, preferably within federal government environments.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and resilient architectures in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal IT compliance frameworks, including FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and other government regulations.
  • Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
  • Experience with database design and management, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as React, Ruby on Rails, Python, Java, or C#.
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical teams, fostering skill development and innovation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and convey technical concepts.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Capable of operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, and frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers.


This is a Full-Time, W2 position. Corp-to-Corp and 1099 ineligible.
