Job description

Location:

Remote. Candidate to be located in the eastern third of the continental US and near a major airport.

 

Pay Rate:

$150,000+/year DOE plus incentive and benefits

 

Schedule: 

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Position Purpose: The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving B2B sales and expanding our market presence across a range of focus clinical segments including Spine, Sports & Orthopedics, Cardiac and Plastic & Reconstructive surgery.  This role requires a strategic and analytical thinker with a deep understanding of clinical applications of biomaterials and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, particularly within the CDMO space, and a passion for being a student of their clients’ business  and advancing medical technologies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect strategic OEM targets by identifying high-potential clients and markets, and developing tailored approaches to engage them to deeply understand their business, product portfolio strategies and potential needs
  • Develop Key Account Strategies for each strategic customer, ensuring personalized and effective engagement plans that address their specific needs and drive long-term partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their requirements and internal processes. 
  • Orchestrate cross functional collaborations between the client and the internal teams, including R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and regulatory, to develop and deliver customized solutions that meet client specifications.
  • Lead negotiations and close deals, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company, and client satisfaction. 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Prepare for and represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other networking events to promote our capabilities and expand our client base.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and sales performance to senior management.
  • Leverage CRM tools to maintain documentation of account planning, prospect and pipeline development.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the medical device or CDMO industry, with a minimum of 3 years with a CDMO in Medical Device.  
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of biomaterials and their applications in medical devices.
  • Experience working with biomaterials and medical device manufacturing processes.
  • Established network of contacts within the medical device industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards for medical devices.
  • Clinical expertise in focus market segments: Spine, Sports and Orthopedics, Cardiac, or Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
