Job Description:

This dynamic position at GDIT as a Network Cloud and Automation Senior Engineer drives enterprise operational efficiencies through automation in cloud as Infrastructure-as-code. We are looking for someone who has a background from networks or network security prior to cloud, and you applied your on prem knowledge to cloud and automation in your career. 

The position requires someone who understands cloud infrastructure, can apply their understanding to automate operational processes, and persistent in driving cultural change within and across teams within the enterprise.  Cloud understanding include infrastructure rollout, operation, and troubleshooting in Azure, OCI, and AWS clouds.  Automation tools must include Ansible and broad knowledge of other automation tools with their strengths and weaknesses. 

You have autonomy to do your work because your peers and manager trust your judgement.  You keep your work and status visible, demonstrate progress, and escalate information and issues when you know the team or manager needs to know.  If you decide on a new technical direction due to new information, you inform and consult with the team, and manager so everyone is aware.  You do not get stuck on a problem for too long without everyone knowing about it.


HOW A CLOUD DEVELOPER SR ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Designs, architects, deploys and maintains cloud solutions.
● Leading major cloud architecture projects

● Identifying and remediating inconsistent cloud configurations across clouds

● Managing cloud automation reporting

● Coordinating across network stakeholder process improvements

● Managing automation code lifecycle

● Maintaining cloud and automation operational metrics

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in technical field
● Required Experience: 8+ years of related experience
● Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong networking experience troubleshooting and designing, especially cloud VPN deployments
  • Strong Firewall experience with network and cloud firewalls, able to troubleshoot firewall issues across native cloud and device firewalls
  • Experience with cloud networks –how cloud networks differ from traditional networking, focus on Azure Cloud and Oracle Cloud
  • Automation experience - developing and supporting automation for your previous jobs, focused on ansible experience or general Python experience as it applies to cloud and networks
  • Comfortable with navigating Linux, network routers, etc.


● Preferred Skills:

  • Containers – experience with container networking including Kubernetes and cloud native container services
  • DNS – experience with cloud DNS and how DNS affects data flows across clouds
  • Project Management – experience on gathering minimal viable requirements and independently working through solutions to delivery. Experience coordinating a project across teams, identifying risks and mitigation
  • API Automation development as it pertains to networks and cloud
  • Cloud Data Flows – experience assessing PaaS and SaaS services and how data flow across security boundaries

The likely salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
