Job Summary:
The Director of IT Business Systems and Applications is responsible for overseeing and directing IT’s technology stack, its strategy, operations, and SaaS based applications. This position plays a key role in shaping the technology vision and ensuring alignment with the overall company business objectives.
The ideal candidate has a strong combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a hands-on approach to delivering innovative and scalable technology solutions. This role will lead IT application management and operations, including the implementation and integration of information systems for digital transformation. A firm understanding of AI/ML based technologies and experience collaborating with leadership peers, senior executives, and go-to-market business owners are critical requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise Application Services:
- Oversee the Enterprise Application staff that configure and maintain IT’s corporate applications, ensuring they function optimally and align with business needs.
- Manage relationships with software vendors, contracts, licenses, renewals, and key applications.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of new applications and major updates, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Govern the inventory and use of existing back-office applications and licenses across Reltio.
- Ensure seamless integration of applications and use within the company’s tech ecosystem, optimizing workflows and data accessibility.
IT Strategy and Operations:
- Develop and implement an IT applications systems strategy to support the company’s long-term business goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of an application framework to ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance.
- Provide executive updates on IT roadmaps and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and fostering cross-functional support.
- Plan and manage the IT budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maintain operational efficiency while meeting strategic priorities.
- Create program and project plans and drive execution to on time completion and cost.
- Oversee the IT Enterprise Applications team to ensure high performance, reliability, scalability, and security of all systems and applications.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Promote a culture of secure based application literacy and empower staff to leverage AI capable applications as a strategic asset.
- Define SMART based, quarterly goals and annual roadmap plans.
- Lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Lead and manage the Jira based, IT change management processes.
- Mentor and develop talent, providing opportunities for skill growth and career advancement.
- Conduct quarterly staff check-in’s and annual performance reviews.
Skills You Must Have:
- 7+ years of experience in a leadership role within business application and/or IT management.
- Experience leading and managing global IT teams across different countries and cultures.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent IT leadership management experience
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing IT strategies that align with business objectives.
- Strong understanding of business processes and applying technology and automation to improve them.
- Awareness and experience with emerging technologies (e.g. AI, ML, automation)
- Responsible for the governing of application and license management.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A business system acumen of processes and workflows (e.g. order to cash).
- Experience with application SaaS spend management
- An architectural and technical understanding of application and data integrations.
- Experience with common, cloud-based, business applications and technologies (e.g., ERP, CRM, HRIS).
- Create IT dashboards and reports based on project and operational KPI’s and metrics.
- Strong understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
Skills That Are Nice to Have:
- Experience leading IT Teams managing back-office systems (e.g. Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure, Okta, Jira, Slack)
- Knowledge and experience with automated workflow systems (e.g. Bettercloud, Okta, Workato)
- Process improvement methodologies (ITIL, Lean, Six Sigma)
- Data analytics and business intelligence expertise
- Enhanced cybersecurity knowledge
- Project management certifications (PMP, Agile)
- Experience creating and managing OKR and KPI programs
- Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
