Job description

Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

As the Senior Sourcing Manager – Indirect you will play a key role in building a best-in-class sourcing strategy. You will lead the strategic sourcing of indirect services, materials, and equipment across the business—all while championing ethical practices and delivering sustainable value.

This role is ideal for a change-maker who thrives on driving process improvement, cross-functional partnership, and high-impact sourcing strategies. You will bring a strategic mindset and operational rigor to help Vital Farms evolve its sourcing capabilities as we scale.

What You'll Do:

  • As Sr. Sourcing Manager Indirect and Shared Services, you will help us build a best-in-class sourcing center of excellence by implementing indirect sourcing best practices and transforming the way we do business.
  • Support an aggressively growing brand by leading the strategic sourcing of indirect services, materials, and equipment in accordance with our high ethical standards and stakeholder business model.
  • Lead change as we redefine the way we manage the strategic sourcing of indirect services, materials, and equipment.
  • Deliver value to the business by optimizing cost, improving service, reducing risk, and ensuring supply reliability.
  • Lead and support the evolution of Sourcing Systems and Processes within the Indirect and Shared Services strategic pillar of sourcing at Vital Farms.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to understand business needs, define sourcing requirements, and drive aligned outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate risk across critical indirect spend areas.
  • Drive cost savings, mitigate supply risk, and ensure continuity of supply while improving service levels and supplier performance.
  • Establish sourcing best practices across spend categories, building consistency and efficiency into sourcing workflows.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business units, balancing innovation, cost optimization, and service excellence.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in indirect sourcing or procurement, ideally within a growth-stage or fast-paced company.
  • Ability to travel 20-25% for company meetings, onboarding trips and supplier meetings.
  • Experience developing and scaling processes, people, and systems to support fast-paced business growth.
  • Demonstrated change management, negotiation/influencing skills, and leadership experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the greater team while effectively managing your time and competing priorities to meet and often exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Strategic thinking with the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get into the details.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contract development, negotiation, and execution.
  • An analytical mindset, but also the ability to apply art with science.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to bring your stakeholders along on the journey.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Annual bonus and equity grant (subject to business results and company approval)
  • Free eggs and butter, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.

Who We Are:

Vital Farms, a Certified B Corporation, offers a range of ethically produced foods nationwide. Started on a single farm in Austin, Texas, in 2007, Vital Farms became a national consumer brand that works with 350 family farms and is the leading U.S. brand of pasture-raised eggs by retail dollar sales. Vital Farms’ products, including shell eggs, butter, hard-boiled eggs, and liquid whole eggs, are sold in over 24,000 stores nationwide. Vital Farms’ ethics are exemplified by its focus on the humane treatment of farm animals and sustainable farming practices. In addition, as a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, Vital Farms prioritizes the long-term benefits of each of its stakeholders, including farmers and suppliers, customers and consumers, communities and the environment, crew members, and stockholders. In short, we exist to improve the lives of people, animals, and our planet through food.
