Job description

Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Pullet Production Manager, as the Pullet Coordinator, you’ll look after the youngest and fluffiest members of our Vital Farms flock. You'll spend your days visiting pullet farms to monitor bird health, check feed and water intake, track lighting hours, and make sure our girls are growing strong and uniform.

You’ll collect and report key data, support farmers, and ensure every chick is cared for according to our standards. It's a hands-on role that’s all about setting our future layers up for success — one peep at a time.

What You'll Do:

  • Become an expert on the Vital Farms Standards
  • Ensure that our standards are maintained
  • Maintain a weekly pullet farm visit schedule and provide coaching and support to our farmers
  • Manage chick deliveries to our pullet farms by being present for each placement to ensure accuracy in the order and optimal condition of all birds
  • Must be present for all flock loadouts under the coordinator’s care to ensure catch count accuracy, proper bird handling, and timely completion of all compliance paperwork for the flock
  • Monitor bird health and work closely with nutritionist and veterinarian support to address any health challenges
  • Monitor environmental conditions at pullet houses and report any issues
  • Monitor ammonia levels and report any issues
  • Monitor weight and uniformity of pullets, weighing flock at key milestones
  • Responsible for verifying 8-week and 12-week vaccinations and performing consistent vaccination crew audits on a periodic basis
  • Accurately record all pullet data and monitor for trends
  • Report any potential shortages or good grow outs
  • Communicate how pullet flocks are performing to Pullet and Lay Teams
  • Ensure that all paperwork and protocols are completed and adhered to
  • Manage feed orders for the flocks in your responsibility

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in animal science, Business or Agriculture Management or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience working in animal production preferred
  • Candidate must be located within a commutable distance of Berryville, Arkansas
  • Ability to travel up to 4 days a week across your territory and to business sites for trainings and meetings, must be willing to work some nights and weekends
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency using all Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Personal commitment to ensuring all milestones are met on time
  • Ability to manage multiple, time sensitive, priorities and deadlines at one time
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
