Summary:
Strategy is a critical function at the Hershey Company, responsible for shaping enterprise-wide, business unit and functional strategies. Our Strategy team acts as a critical advisor to the Global Leadership Team by framing key choices, providing a well-reasoned point of view, and ensuring choices are made and effectively translated into action.
As a member of the team, the Senior Manager, Strategy is both a general management position and an individual contributor role that has responsibility for developing short and long-term strategies to drive sales, share, and profitability across Hershey. The job requires conceptual and strategic thinking, business acumen, judgement and leadership as well as a highly developed set of analytical, financial modeling, and project management skills.
The Senior Manager of Strategy will support Enterprise Strategy initiatives, particularly focusing on the three-year Strategic Planning cycle to ensure the company is achieving the optimal equilibrium that balances financial obligations and strategic aspirations, short-term imperatives and long-term goals, and the strengthening of competencies with the building of capabilities, all grounded in the realities of our complex and evolving external environment.
The Senior Manager will gain exposure across the company and will join a driven, creative, and enthusiastic team focused on positioning Hershey for its next wave of growth.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support development and implementation of 3-year strategic plan for the enterprise.
• Provide thought-leadership and test plans for coherence and comprehensiveness
• Ensure plans satisfy financial and strategic aspirations and deliver shareholder value
• Reconcile plans across regional and functional imperatives
• Ensure clarity and commitment to the plans across levels in the organization
• Proactively support and lead other enterprise strategy initiatives including but not limited to the following for the office of the CGO and CEO:
• Enterprise strategy scenario development
• Category and market entry strategies
• Mergers, acquisitions, and divestments
• Capability, cost, and risk optimization
• Customer and competitive analyses
• External landscape assessments
• Mergers & Acquisition
• Lead category Priority/Analysis
• Conduct Pre-Due Diligence Retail Analysis and strategy work
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
• Ability to develop clear and concise senior level communications.
• Ability to synthesize large sets of data from multiple sources, formulate/validate hypotheses and make business recommendations.
• Ability to analyze business processes and to recommend and implement process improvements.
• Comfort level in facilitating and leading projects that are cross functional in scope.
• Strong understanding of financial metrics and P&L fundamentals.
• Ability to develop working relationships across functional areas of the organization.
• Proven Quantitative and Analytical skills.
• Fluency with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Orientation towards strategic thinking.
• Strong desire for personal and professional development.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 8 years progressive professional experience
• Experience in roles requiring balanced profile across strategy, finance, and operations
• International business experience preferred:
• BS/BA degree required. MBA Preferred.
