Description

A Newsroom Intern at News On 6 helps drive the Ideal Team Player culture. 

Job Summary: The Newsroom Intern will assist and observe in the workings of a newsroom at Griffin Media and News On 6 in the Tulsa office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Intern will learn basic producer skills including writing, researching facts, logging video, timing of stories and newscast, utilizing wire services, and prompter operation
  • Intern will learn basic reporting skills including interviewing sources, logging video, writing stories, and appearing on camera
  • Intern will learn basic web skills including writing and posting stories to NewsOn6.com, as well as using social media to post and gather news
  • Further learning opportunities will be possible by shadowing different members of our diverse station

Job Schedule: This is an unpaid internship for college credit. We are flexible on schedule, but you must meet your hours required for credits. Internship is available for the Fall semester.

Skills and Requirements:

  • GPA of 2.75 or above
  • Intern must have completed 60 credit hours toward their degree. Copy of official transcript must be uploaded with application. 
  • Intern candidates must be self-motivated and work well with others.
  • Professional dress is expected at all times.
  • Availability for internship up to 16 hours per week.
