SAP Basis Engineer

In Hungary, KOSTAL is about to build its first business service centre to provide business support in IT, finance, procurement, master data, sales and HR fields. This will be a global centre with high value-added and complex processes.

The work can be managed remotely – with time-to-time office presence depending on the team’s agreement and the demand of the respective professional area – from any location in Hungary. Technical conditions for working from home are fully in place.

Overall Purpose of Job:

• SAP Basis Engineer as part of a SAP Basis team, which is responsible for a complex and a high virtualized SAP landscape running in a mixed on premise and private cloud (SAP ECS) environment.

The objectives in this role will be to assist with design, administration, monitoring, optimizing performance and troubleshooting both application issues as well as automatic routine tasks in the area of SAP systems and databases.

The international SAP Basis Team guarantees the availability of our mission-critical SAP environment.

Experiences and Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.

Work Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in SAP Basis activities.

• Background in engineering or technology roles with exposure to agile product teams is desirable.

• Experience in the administration of heterogeneous SAP systems and working in virtualized environments.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, with quick perception and initiative.

• Strong analytical skills, process automation mindset, and effective interpersonal communication.

Technical / IT Knowledge

• SAP Systems Administration: Experience in managing and monitoring SAP ABAP/JAVA systems, including SAP ERP R/3 and S/4HANA.

• SAP Cloud Solutions: Proficiency in SAP cloud-based services and architectures (on-premise and cloud).

• SAP Basis Tools & Platforms:

  • Expertise in tools such as Solution Manager (SolMan), Cloud ALM, ChaRM, SAP WebDispatcher, SAP Router, HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, and SSO.

• Database Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HANA DB.

• Incident & Service Management:

  • Troubleshooting and issue resolution (Level 2 support).

  • Service request handling and fault elimination.

  • Understanding of interdependencies between application and SAP Basis layers.

• Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident Management, Change Management, etc.); ITIL certification is a plus.

• Experience with ticketing systems and standard reporting tools.

Languages

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

• German language skills are a plus.
