Job description

DGB Group is looking for a highly organized and reliable Project Coordinator based in Astana to act as our local representative and primary liaison on the ground for our Aral Sea Restoration Project in Kazakhstan. This role does not require technical environmental expertise—instead, it focuses on communication, coordination, and representation.

You will be our eyes and ears in Kazakhstan, supporting our international team by facilitating local relationships, attending meetings, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in collaboration with our project partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Representation & Communication
    • Attend local stakeholder meetings on behalf of DGB (government, NGOs, development agencies).
    • Represent the project and report key updates to the international team in English.
  • Relationship Management
    • Arrange and maintain contact with local authorities, ministries, forestry services, and NGOs.
    • Help build and manage trusted relationships with on-the-ground partners, including landowners and community leaders.
  • Coordination & Support
    • Coordinate local travel, site visits, logistics, and basic reporting.
    • Track and share developments in local media, policy, or community activities relevant to the Aral Sea project.
    • Provide hands-on assistance to ensure follow-up after meetings, workshops, or events.
  • Liaison with Field Activities
    • Occasionally accompany teams to field locations (e.g. Kyzylorda region).
    • Capture photos, quotes, or short reports for internal updates or marketing content.

Requirements

  • Based in or able to work from Astana with regular availability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
  • Previous experience in admin, project coordination, or external affairs is preferred.
  • Professional, proactive, and well-organized with strong follow-up discipline.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to southern project regions (travel expenses covered).

Benefits

  • A meaningful position contributing to environmental restoration and community development.
  • Opportunity to work with an international team tackling one of the world’s largest environmental challenges.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Support, training, and clear structure provided by DGB’s international operations team.
