Game Development Lead (Rust)

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Game Development Lead on behalf of our client to spearhead the development of a unique and innovative game project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small, focused team in building a custom game engine and implementing intricate game designs. You'll be instrumental in shaping the technological foundation and core gameplay experiences of our ambitious title.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a small team of game developers.
• Customize and extend the Bevy game engine (Rust-based) to meet project requirements.
• Implement complex game designs provided by their partners.

• Develop a wide range of game systems, including:

• Custom tooling.
• A bespoke renderer.
• A custom voxel engine.
• Advanced procedural generation systems.
• A unique physics system.
• Traditional gaming elements like companion AI, trading, caravaning systems, and survival crafting.

• Collaborate closely with game designers and other stakeholders to bring the vision to life.
• Contribute to technical architecture and design decisions for the game engine and its systems.

Requirements

• Significant experience in game development in a professional setting.
• Proficiency in Rust with demonstrable working experience.
• Experience with game engines; while direct Bevy experience isn't required, a strong understanding of game engine architecture is essential.
• A strong understanding of fundamental game development principles and practices.
• Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills

Bonus Points

• Experience with custom engine development or significant engine modification.
• Familiarity with voxel technology, procedural generation, or unique physics implementations.
• Prior experience with Bevy engine is a plus.
