Position Summary:

The Director of Operational Excellence & Strategic Initiatives is responsible for leading enterprise-wide initiatives focused on improving processes, patient service, productivity, and efficiency. This role involves collaborating with leaders across functions to design and implement best practices, optimize processes, and drive a culture of continuous improvement. The role will also lead large strategic projects that will have a meaningful impact on overall company performance. The Director will leverage methodologies and governance such as Lean, AdaptHealth Operating System and the Project Management Office governance to deliver tangible results. This role is crucial for achieving operational efficiencies and building a sustainable culture of continuous improvement across the organization. The Director of Operational Excellence & Strategic Initiatives will be a vital partner to the executive team and an essential leader in driving transformation and performance.


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Operational Strategy Development:
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for Operational Excellence aligned with corporate goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process standardization, simplification, and automation to support business objectives.
  • Set and track KPIs for operational performance and develop benchmarks for ongoing improvement.
  • Build business cases for strategic initiative investment in CAPEX, project resources and expenses.
  • Process Improvement & Project Management:
  • Lead major process improvement projects and large strategic, utilizing Lean principles, AdaptHealth Operating System and PMO governance.
  • Design and implement a robust framework for tracking and reporting on process performance, including dashboards and key metrics.
  • Conduct detailed analyses of current processes to identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Change Management:
  • Oversee the execution of change management initiatives to support process improvements and organizational change.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement with improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and lead training programs to build continuous improvement capabilities across the organization.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce quality standards to ensure consistent delivery of products and services.
  • Collaborate with the quality and compliance teams to align operational practices with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts to address and resolve recurring quality and performance issues.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a team of process improvement specialists, 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. 
  • Mentor team members and other leaders in process improvement skills and methodologies.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other senior leaders in departments such as finance, IT, supply chain, HR, and customer service to identify and implement cross-functional improvements.
  • Partner with technology teams to identify automation opportunities and drive digital transformation.
  • Coordinate with finance to align operational initiatives with budgeting and financial goals.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Complete assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintain compliance with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • In-depth understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles and best practices in Operational Excellence.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • A minimum of (10) years of relevant experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, or operations management.
  • Strong Financial acumen – P&L levers, business case development – ROIC, IRR, NPV, 
  • Proven track record of implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in a leadership role with implementing corporate strategic initiatives through strong project management and governance.
  • Experience with digital marketing to promote AdaptHealth’s brand and help facilitate connections with our customers.
  • Experience leading projects involving Information Technology (IT) collaboration and application development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Travel as needed up to 25%.
  • Ability to analyze data, problem solve and think critically.
