Job description

Title: Microsoft 365 Technician
Location: Remote
Reports to: IT System Analyst
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Full-Time or Part-Time: Full-Time
Salary Range: $58,656 - $70,000
Starting pay varies based on location and experience, in compliance with specific state wage regulations. Competitive rates tailored to your geography and expertise.

Position Overview:
The Microsoft 365 Technician is responsible for administering and supporting the organization’s Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams. This role supports the daily operations and performance optimization of M365 applications, with additional responsibilities for Mimecast email security administration. The technician will contribute to systems analysis, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements to ensure efficiency, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune.
• Serve as a key team member in the M365 administration and support function.
• Configure and deploy M365 applications and ensure smooth integration with existing infrastructure.
• Analyze current M365 environment and recommend system improvements for performance and security.
• Lead the development and implementation of new M365 features.
• Manage Mimecast email security, including policy configuration, troubleshooting delivery issues, and monitoring for email threats.
• Provide responsive technical support to users for M365-related applications and services.
• Monitor M365 environments to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and data protection.
• Apply necessary patches and updates to maintain security and compliance.
• Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
• Generate reports on system usage, performance metrics, and user activity.
• Deliver end-user training on M365 features and develop user guides and support documentation.
• Collaborate with IT team members on cross-functional projects and issue resolution.
• Ensure adherence to organizational security protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.

Skills and Competencies:
• Advanced technical expertise in Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune.
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems and networking concepts.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration tasks is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize work effectively and operate both independently and within a team.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting and managing Microsoft 365 environments.
• Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or Modern Desktop Administrator Associate are highly preferred.
• Previous experience in a technical support or systems administration role is preferred.
