Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the VP - Finance is to lead and manage the Sands Digital Services (“SDS”) finance, accounting, and procurement functions. This is a global role for SDS and will report to the Chief Operating Officer of SDS and the Las Vegas Sands Corp. (“LVS”) EVP & CFO.  This individual will be someone who can partner with the COO of SDS and the SDS executive team to bring innovative thinking to the business models and analytics by which we build our business. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone capable of supporting both high-level complex accounting, finance, and procurement responsibilities as well being willing to dive into the details on a day-to-day basis as we work through the start-up phase of SDS and transition to a global profitable entity.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with SDS and LVS global policies, practices, and procedures.  All SDS and LVS Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the SDS and LVS standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executive presence on SDS Executive Committee providing Finance and Procurement leadership in ensuring appropriate level of engagement and support for all levels of operations.

  • Executive responsibility for all finance and procurement functions of SDS.

  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, revenue/expense analysis, KPI’s and resource requirements.

  • SDS responsibility for preparation of long-term strategic forecasts, annual budgets and quarterly updates to annual forecasts, including the on-going assessment and evaluation of the financial performance of SDS in comparison to long term operational and strategic goals, annual budgets and forecasts. 

  • Partner with SDS sales and operational team on providing input on key commercial terms on contractual arrangements with customers and vendors.

  • Manage a Commercial Finance function to support the SDS Commercial Group. This function will develop KPIs, track financial performance at a partner, brand, and product level to drive business performance and provide analytical support to drive growth and efficiency.

  • Key executive level responsibility in ensuring focus on cost and headcount controls at the SDS level utilizing operational and financial metrics in accomplishing operational and financial analysis on a forward-looking basis at the SDS level.

  • In partnership with the LVS SVP – Global Procurement Officer, this role will further develop and manage a procurement organization capable of supporting the global operations of SDS leveraging the existing LVS systems, processes and internal control framework.

  • The role will have oversight of financial and operational internal control framework for SDS, inclusive of control and operational execution across all areas with a focus on effective and efficient controls with a long-term view of identification and opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Responsible for collaboration with the LVS EVP & CFO, LVS SVP & Global Chief Compliance Officer and LVS SVP & Chief Audit Officer to maintain compliance with required gaming regulations, internal controls and the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

  • Ensure underlying accounting records are accurate, complete and in accordance with GAAP while meeting all deadlines required at the SDS level and to accomplish LVS timelines.

  • Partner with LVS Corporate Accounting and Corporate Tax departments on the preparation of statutory filing requirements (financial statements, income tax returns, etc.) as required for local entities or as necessary in connection with the applicable gaming regulators.

  • Oversee and work with teams to enhance and/or further develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operations and effectiveness.

  • Advise management on financial and procurement issues that arise.

  • Perform job duties in a safe manner.

  • Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age.

  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work.

  • BS degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA is preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. 

  • 15+ years of experience or equivalent as a senior financial officer in a large, complex, global, decentralized multinational company.

  • Technically skilled in budgeting, financial compliance, accounting, financial reporting, financial planning, and control; CPA, or its equivalent, is preferred.

  • Must be seen as a strong businessperson with the aforementioned skills who knows how to partner with senior managers to help them achieve their annual and long term financial and operating objectives.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong background and experience in controls and compliance.

  • High quality service standards.

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies, ranging from joint venture partners to government agencies.
