Job description

A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

 As a Senior Environmental Services Consultant at DEKRA, you will help save lives, prevent serious injuries, protect environmental resources, and strengthen client safety cultures by driving organizational change. You will lead initiatives to improve Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance through expert consulting and by developing services that meet evolving client needs. Your role will also focus on identifying environmental consulting opportunities, designing solutions, and supporting clients in achieving environmental compliance and excellence.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of DEKRA’s Environmental Services offerings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in an array of Environmental regulations, standards, and industry best practices, including:
    • Regulatory & Compliance Expertise:
      • Clean Air Act (CAA) Compliance – Title V, New Source Review (NSR), emissions inventories
      • Clean Water Act (CWA) – NPDES permitting, stormwater (SWPPP), wastewater discharge
      • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) – hazardous waste management, generator requirements
      • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) – Tier II, TRI reporting (Form R)
      • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
      • Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
      • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans – 40 CFR Part 112
      • Risk Management Plans (RMP) – 40 CFR Part 68
    • Sustainability & Management Systems:
      • Environmental Management Systems (EMS) – ISO 14001 implementation and auditing
      • Sustainability strategy development (GHG inventories, carbon footprint analysis)
      • Corporate ESG reporting support (CDP, GRI, SASB)
      • Circular economy and waste minimization strategies
      • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and environmental impact assessments (EIA/NEPA)
    • Strategic & Project Management Expertise:
      • Multi-site environmental compliance program development
      • Permitting strategy and regulatory negotiations
      • Client training and capacity-building for environmental compliance
      • Project management for remediation, permitting, and EHS integration efforts
      • Environmental risk assessments during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
      • Stakeholder engagement with regulators, community, and internal leadership
      • Federal and state-specific environmental permitting and reporting requirements
  • Advise clients on best practices and tools to support continuous improvement in environmental compliance and performance.
  • Support health and safety consulting engagements as capacity allows.
  • Provide project management, sales support, and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Support marketing efforts through the creation of proposals, brochures, web content, and cost estimates.
  • Represent DEKRA at conferences and events through thought leadership and presentations.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS or a technical discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years of EHS experience in consulting, industry, or regulatory settings with demonstrated program leadership.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated client relationship management skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, across all organizational levels.
  • Experience with organizational improvement initiatives (e.g., safety, quality).
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, large-scale projects.

 

Physical Considerations:

  • Ability to work in a variety of client locations/environments, including indoors/outdoors and on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts as required by client operations.
  • Ability to travel extensively, including prolonged driving and air travel.
  • Capable of lifting 25–50 lbs (luggage).
  • Extended periods of computer work and standing.

Travel Considerations:

  • Domestic travel required, estimated up to 50%

What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:

Compensation: 

The base pay for this position is $105,000 annually to $130,000 annually. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
