POSITION SUMMARY
To prepare and serve beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Acts as a cashier for the bar area.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the Food and Beverage department as per guest occupancy.
Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality using product dating and FIFO method
Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, addresses the guest by name always, by utilizing 4Core. Promotes and upsells food and liquor with every guest. Mixes garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes pouring liquor, beer, and wine to Marriott Standards.
Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest. Maintains an accurate record of all beverage items served.
Processes cash, credit cards and/or voucher transactions, makes change as needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all monies.
Stores and secures all beverage, food and other equipment, deposits cash and vouchers, drops and secures bank.
Maintains and promotes a clean, sanitized, debris free work area and practices the “Clean as you go” method
Checks identification to verify age requirements to purchase alcohol
Provides guidance and insight to guests about property, history, and LAK (Local area knowledge)
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.
Performs general cleaning tasks using standard property cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested (i.e., special guest requests, cross-training)
Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to insure all laws are being followed.
Other duties as assigned, including: assisting security with disorderly guests, and reporting any suspicious persons or activity immediately.
Discover and responds to customer needs.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
All other duties assigned by manager.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations and service of various alcoholic beverages.
Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers.
Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of food & beverage items.
Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
Ability to operate a keyboard to input Point of Sale procedures to pre-check, input order and close out the check.
Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
Ability to work standing and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bartending experience required. Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. Example: Washington Health Card Permit, Oregon Liquor Service Permit. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.

Must be of legal age to serve and pour alcohol

All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance (specific standards available).

Upon employment all associates are required to comply with the standards, rules and regulations which may be established by the Company and updated from time to time. Associates who violate property rules or have irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
The Hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays and overtime to reflect the business needs of the property. Associates may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the work shift as necessary. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
