The Legal Counsel, US, to be based in our Americas headquarters in Chicago, will manage a broad range of corporate, commercial, litigation, legal operations and compliance matters as part of a dynamic and diverse global legal team.
Key Responsibilities Include
Provide general legal advice to the business and proactively manage and mitigate legal and regulatory risks related to the United States and the Americas region
Provide support with respect to commercial disputes, settlement negotiations and litigation matters
Support the Group legal operational functions, including management of database tools (corporate housekeeping, claims management and contract management)
Assist the Group Compliance Officer on compliance matters
About You
J.D. from an accredited law school, with strong academic credentials, required
2-5 years of experience as a practicing attorney in an internationally orientated law firm or a multinational company, ideally in a similar industry (i.e. food, manufacturing, commodity trading and sourcing)
Valid, active license to practice law with capability to serve as in-house counsel in this role
Excellent drafting and communication skills
Willingness to travel from time to time
Spanish language skills a plus
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
High analytical and conceptual skills combined with the ability to simplify complex matters
A flexible, proactive, solution-oriented mind-set with a “can do” spirit and the ability to pragmatically solve all kind of legal issues/requests and being able to prioritize under pressure
An open-minded, positive thinking and teamwork oriented attitude
