Description

Position Summary:

 

Codman Square Health center is seeking an adult psychiatrist to work in the outpatient behavioral health department and integrate closely with our primary care teams. Codman Square Health Center vision is to be our community’s first choice for comprehensive, holistic, and integrated services and empowers individuals to lead healthy lives and build thriving communities. The psychiatrist is integral to achieving this vision through the provision of direct care to a panel of patients as well as supporting the psychiatric health of the patient population through e-consultation, integrated care, and team education.

 

The behavioral department provides highly collaborative team atmospheres, with behavioral health integrated into primary care and specialty departments along with care management, social service, nutrition, and family planning services. The Health Center is a teaching institution and opportunities for resident, fellows, and NP/PA student teaching are available. The Health Center has a close partnership with Boston Medical Center and is a member of the Boston Accountable Care Organization.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Clinical Care Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine consistent with established clinical standards.
  • The psychiatrist is responsible for team-based management of all patients on their panel, including direct patient care and follow-up for all patients seen during regularly scheduled clinical session, making satisfactory effort to meet or exceed productivity and quality goals determined by leadership.
  • Support the management of patients with psychiatric concerns in primary care via e-consultation and short term diagnostic clarification/medication stabilization where possible
  • Complete documentation and billing in a timely fashion as described in the Health Center Documentation and Billing protocols, making satisfactory effort to accurately and thoroughly code all care provided.

 

 

 

 

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate in meetings, trainings and performance improvement activities as determined by Medical Leadership.
  • Additional departmental responsibilities include but are not limited to: coverage for absent Providers, involvement in staff evaluations, and other reasonable tasks determined by the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Behavioral Health

 

Professional Responsibilities:

 

  • Providers will conduct themselves in a professional manner in all formal patient, staff, and community interactions, including being punctual to all clinical sessions and meetings.
  • Providers must work together with medical leadership to meet the clinical obligations of the health center, including psychiatry team clinical coverage as determined by the CMO or delegate
  • Providers must be familiar with and abide by Codman Square Health Center personnel policies, procedures and guidelines, and clinical protocols.
  • Partnering with health center administration, Providers will complete all compliance and licensing requirements by the deadlines outlined by Medical Leadership. Requirements include, but are not limited to: licensing, peer review, coding audits, and competency assessments.
  • Partnering with health center administration, Providers are required to maintain licensure and other privileges required to practice medicine in Massachusetts, participate in regular continuing medical education activities; cooperate with the Codman Square Health Center staff in maintaining privileges in all hospitals and managed care plans used by the Health Center.
  • Providers are expected to participate in professional development through engaging in evaluation and peer review processes.
  • When appropriate, Providers will supervise Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners,
  • Providers are expected to support the formalized educational endeavors  and partnerships of the health center

 

 

Practice Transformation / Performance Improvement Responsibilities:

 

  • Practice in a style consistent with the Health Center’s goal to provide patient-centered and team-based care, including sharing responsibility for care with the clinical team.
  • Participate in and lead improvement projects, including transforming personal practice to support health center initiatives
  • Participate in team-based care, including team meetings and huddles to support population management, complex case management.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

• Current Massachusetts Medical License (required)
• Board Certification or Eligibility in Psychiatry (required)
• Current DEA and Massachusetts Control Substance License (required)
• Experience using Epic EHR (preferred)
• Haitian Creole, French or Spanish language skills (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.

Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading and computer use
