What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Activation and Support, this position is responsible for developing and managing the new and continuing relationships with partners and stakeholders for the purpose of activating new commercial programs which includes the implementation of new initiatives and infrastructure development to drive organic growth at Toronto Pearson.

As Senior Representative, Commercial Activation, you will:


  • Work to deliver improved ASQ scores in retail categories - variety and value for money
  • Be responsible for the development team in all retail partner related GTAA projects whereby terminal infrastructure is the driver
  • Will ensure that all internal and external processes are followed and assess areas for process efficiencies and improvements
  • Be responsible for planning, scheduling, financial tracking and implementation of all commercial partner related developments. (Excludes IT related projects)
  • Support the Manager, Commercial Activations in developing and managing the construction plans for new store development in the airport alongside the project Manager and Tenant
  • Be responsible for ensuring all GTAA processes are followed and will be the main point of contact for the tenant during construction phase
  • Manage and conduct public tenders and requests for proposals; Prepare tender and proposal documents, consult with external and internal stakeholders (including potential proponents) in the preparation of strategic implementation plans; Evaluate and recommend the awarding of various contracts; Implement new initiatives to drive organic growth
  • Identify trends and researches new revenue generating opportunities for management review and consideration (airport trends, retail, fashion, spa, health & beauty and travel trends)
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the “Toronto” retail experience at Pearson
  • Identify and explore creative and innovative new products and services to enhance guest service; develop and prepare detailed discussion papers and business cases
  • Develop the tools and documents for monitoring compliance and work with the Architectural, Engineering and Project Management teams to ensure tenant performance is monitored
  • Monitor compliance and review performance reports; identify systemic issues requiring a course of action to address and correct non-compliance with the tenants
  • Identify opportunities for policy changes/enhancements, research industry best practices in food and beverage; draft policies/protocols for management review and recommendation
  • Be responsible for ensuring Tenant compliance with federal requirements, rules and regulations including the WHO, federal and municipal government bodies
  • Prepare and present activation and project plan forecasts, budgets and monthly variance analysis reports for use by the Manager Commercial Activation. This includes preparing detailed analysis of contracts based on past and projected performance, identifying trends in airport commercial programs and noting operational changes at the airport
  • Perform other duties such as special projects, assignments and reviews requiring the incumbent’s unique skills and experience


This unionized position is classified at the Band 4 level, with an hourly wage range of $44.63,based on a 37.5 hour work week. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test.

This is the role for you, if you have:


  • Post secondary degree or 3 year diploma in business, retail management, commercial property management or other related field
  • 5 years’ experience in customer-account service/relationship management and dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • 5 years’ experience in retail management, or commercial property management or commercial leasing
  • 3 years’ experience managing and/or implementing work plans
  • 3 years’ experience overseeing the work of consultants and contractors
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to manage and implement programs that yield positive growth
  • Ability to build work plans that deliver on program objectives
  • Strong skills in customer-account service/relationship management
  • Knowledge of negotiation strategies, retail programs or plans and strategies
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts/leases including terms and conditions
  • Ability to deal with regulatory or legislative stakeholders and their requirements i.e. Code Compliance Consultants
  • Knowledge of computer software operations (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to analyze revenue and pricing information and data
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to write professional businesses cases and briefs
