Job Description
Position Overview:
The Associate Director, Operations, functions as the Administrator on Duty during Tour 2 for Saturday-Sunday. As AOD, this position functions as the highest-level administrative presence, on-site, during this tour. As such, this position is responsible for managing any operational issue and communicating with senior administration when necessary. The Administrator on Duty serves as an extension of the Administration Department.
Responsibilities
Primary operational point person for any Emergency Management event during non-business hours.
Interfaces with outside agencies on behalf of the organization, such as OME, NYPD and FDNY, and escalates to senior management as appropriate.
Resolves operational issues as requested by management during.
Manages issues related to staff incidents and implements standard operating procedures in consultation with HR, Department Heads and Labor Relations.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
During tour of duty, responds to requests from management staff to resolve issues. This may include but are not limited to: Patient complaints, Facility Issues, Staffing issues, Bed assignment issues, Telecommunication/IT issues.
Elevates issues to senior admin Administrator on Call, and/or Chief Operating Officer as appropriate.
Interfaces with management including nursing, medical staff, facilities, hospital police, admitting and other operational areas to resolve issues and solve problems.
In the event of and Emergency Management event, becomes the incident commander until the Command Center structure is established.
Performs frequent rounds of hospital and reports key operational statistics to senior management.
Manages inpatient bed census and bed assignment with Admitting, Nursing and Medical Staff.
Responds to patient and family complaints as requested from staff. Interfaces with Patient Experience/Patient Guest Relations as needed.
Interfaces with NYPD and other law enforcement agencies as incidents occur. Elevates issues to senior leadership as needed.
Leads team huddle at beginning of shift to highlight current issues and set priorities with leadership team.
Provides notification to hospital leadership, of high-profile incidents which may attract media attention, by placing hospital on media alert.
Writes AOD report at end of shift for distribution to hospital leadership.
14 HOURS PER WEEK (WEEKEND COVERAGE)
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering or Social Sciences, Health Care Specialization, Physical Sciences or related discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial and/or consultative experience and background; or
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines or five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial and consultative experience and background; or
A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in disciplines.
