About this role

A Program Portfolio Manager oversees and manages a portfolio of programs and projects to ensure alignment with organizational strategy, objectives, and priorities. This role bridges strategic planning and execution, ensuring resource optimization, risk mitigation, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Strategy and Planning

  • Define and maintain the program and portfolio framework aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize programs and projects based on strategic value, resource availability, and risk assessment.
  • Develop waterline for program execution aligned with business objectives.

Governance and Oversight

  • Establish portfolio governance standards, processes, and metrics for success.
  • Monitor the health and progress of programs and projects within the portfolio.
  • Lead portfolio reviews, ensuring accountability and adherence to budgets, timelines, and scope.

Resource Management

  • Optimize resource allocation across programs and projects to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage capacity planning and address resource constraints.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage portfolio risks and dependencies.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and escalate critical issues to senior leadership as needed.

Financial Management

  • Oversee portfolio budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Work with Product Leads and Finance to provide detailed reporting on financial performance, including ROI and cost-benefit analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and project teams to ensure alignment.
  • Communicate portfolio performance, challenges, and opportunities effectively to executives and other stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement changes to enhance portfolio performance and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in program, portfolio, or project management roles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in portfolio management tools and methodologies (e.g., PPM tools, Agile, PMI standards, Smartsheets, Excel).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multimillion-dollar budgets and complex project portfolios.

Pay Range:

$109,456 - $191,938 Annually
