Job description

The Home Care & Hospice Licensing & Applications Consultant (1099 Contractor) has the primary responsibility to advise and assist client agencies with completion of required document submissions for state and federal licensure and/or certification, as well as accreditation requirements. The Licensing & Applications Consultant is responsible for remaining current on regulations and documentation requirements for home health, hospice, and non-skilled agencies to obtain, update, and maintain state licenses and federal Medicare participation while remaining in compliance.

***This position is a 1099 contract position with HealthCare ConsultLink. Preferred Location: Texas

Seeking Home Care & Hospice Licensing & Applications Consultant

Job Qualifications:


Minimum Education: High school degree or equivalent is required

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certification preferred

Minimum Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in the home care and/or hospice industry with a minimum of three (3) years focused on licensing and applications responsibilities. Must have knowledge of state, federal, and accreditation requirements related to licensure and applications processes and timelines.

Required Skills:

  • The consultant must demonstrate the ability to read and write in English
  • Must possess excellent writing skills, including appropriate use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • The consultant should possess knowledge of Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Microsoft Word; additional proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • The consultant should demonstrate proficiency with Adobe Acrobat editing software
  • The consultant should have experience and familiarity with electronic submission systems for various entities involved in the licensure, certification, and accreditation of home care and hospice agencies
  • High level of customer service skills with a focus on completing the client’s project and providing education during the process
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects at any given time
  • Ability to work remotely with a high level of self-discipline for meeting deadlines
  • Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally across all levels of personnel
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the HealthCare ConsultLink team
  • Professional demeanor, self-motivated, dependable, and organized
  • Ability to read, write, and/or speak Spanish is not required, but is preferred

Environmental and Working Conditions:
Works independently in a remote setting with virtual and telephonic coordination and collaboration with team. To promote a high level of productivity through standard work schedule with flexibility as needed and approved by managers.

Physical and Mental Effort:
Must be able to work under stressful conditions and time constraints for projects. Work requires sitting for long periods of time, bending, and stretching for files and office supplies. May occasionally require lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of HCL on a daily basis
  • Demonstrate and support the core values of HCL while holding peer team members accountable for adhering to them
  • Provide consulting services to client agency staff per terms of each project contract
  • Review industry regulations to understand and interpret the content and determine the need for agency licensure, certification, and/or accreditation applications
  • Using requirements from associated regulatory bodies, coordinate with client agency contact(s) to obtain information needed to submit thorough and accurate documentation to meet project contract expectations
  • Demonstrate accurate completion and professional presentation of required documentation in a timely manner to meet client deadlines
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and judgment to understand the risks and downstream impact of licensure, certification, and accreditation changes
  • Assist client agency contacts as needed with questions related to various state and federal licensing, certification, and accreditation processes
  • Monitor appropriate regulatory sources for changes impacting applications processes
  • Upon request, assist with special projects that require experienced consultant input
  • Provide training and support to other members of the consulting team, as needed
  • Communicate with HCL team to provide information on consulting activities, status updates, and requests from client agency staff
  • Responsible for managing assignments in a professional manner while providing a high level of customer service to client agencies
  • Follow HCL processes for documenting activities, completing project requirements, and communicating project and/or client information
  • Act in a manner that is compliant with company policies and expectations
  • Develop educational content and/or communications upon request; will perform education as designated in coordination with HCL managers and team members
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all local, state, and federal laws relating to operations of HCL
  • When requested, partner with other team members to develop approaches that best position services or ideas for the marketplace through appropriate sales and marketing activities
  • Contribute to HCL team efforts to achieve and surpass business goals and objectives
  • Carry out other duties in support of the CEO and managers at HCL
