Description

Job Summary:           

  • Practice radiation safety using principles of ALARA and documents shielding all patients 13 and younger.        
  • Perform all non-contrast imaging, fluoroscopy, portable and surgical procedures as requested.     
  • Active knowledge of radiographic procedures.        
  • Properly position patients and give appropriate instruction to patients for exam.        
  • Adjust technique to obtain the most diagnostic study.        
  • Send images taken in surgery via internet, cable, Wi-Fi or Tims unit.        
  • Ensure correct images and documentation are available in PACS for radiologist.         
  • Transport patients as needed and communicate hand-off to next caregiver/nurse.        
  • Order correct exam requested by physician orders in hospital EMR.        
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.          
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.         
Qualifications

Education:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology and be in good standing. Must have completed first year of radiology program and currently working on second year of program. Must acquire registry within one year of program completion.

Experience:
Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with patients, patients’ families, visitors, salesmen, and general public; knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures; as well as operation and maintenance of radiology equipment normally acquired through completion of a two-year post high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology.

Additional Skills/Abilities:
Communication skills, some computer skills, task-orientated, organized, familiar with the operation of all x-ray equipment, and computers. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physician and/or emotional stress to gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians.
Analytical skills necessary to determine method of providing radiographs based on the specifics of individual case, utilization knowledge of techniques, and provide technical advice for other hospital employees. Must work under the supervision of a registered radiologic technologist.
