Jury Document Assistant

We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our firm is looking for a Jury Document Assistant for our Downtown Los Angeles office to join our fast-paced team. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely production of all pre-trial and post-trial documents in the trial phase of the unlawful detainer process.

Compensation Range:

$25.00-$29.00/Hourly, DOE

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Draft and e-file pre-trial documents and arrange for service on defendants
  • Provide copies of pre-trial documents, witness lists, and exhibits to clients
  • Merge all trial documents and produce trial binders for attorneys
  • Send jury trial notifications and fee schedules to clients
  • Send answers to clients, follow up with the court to ensure processing of trial requests, and notify clients of the trial date
  • Prepare witness subpoenas and arrange for service
  • Obtain certified copies of documents needed for trial exhibits
  • Ensure pre-trial motions and briefs are drafted, filed, and placed in the trial file
  • Process post-trial writs
  • E-file pre-trial motions
  • Provide any needed support for jury trials or long bench trials where additional file organization is needed

 

Qualifications:

 

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

 

  • Formal legal and/or trial experience
  • Preparation of jury trial documents, including jury instructions, exhibit lists, witness lists, and trial binders
  • Experience with ProLaw and LexisNexis
  • E-filing experience, particularly with First Legal
  • 1+ years of paralegal or law clerk experience
  • Knowledge of local county court rules and procedures
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work
  • High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task
  • Versatile computer skills

 

Schedule:

 

Position is full-time at 40 hours/week. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday.

 

The primary responsibilities of this position require that the work be performed at the office full-time. We are not considering remote candidates at this time.
