Higher Heights for America, a 501(c)(4), and its sister organization Higher Heights Leadership Fund, a 501(c)(3) are the leading national organizations providing Black women with a political home exclusively dedicated to harnessing their power to expand Black women’s elected representation and voting participation. 

Higher Heights was founded by Black women for Black women’s political growth and equity, with a winning plan for building collective political power and expanding Black women’s elected leadership. Higher Heights’ mission includes: 

• Investing in the next generation of political leaders.  
• Organizing and mobilizing the power of Black women voters through its #BlackWomenVote campaign.  
• Creating an environment for Black women to vote, run, win, and lead, through online training, research, cultural-shifting communications work, and digital campaigns.

Scope of Work 

Higher Heights seeks an experienced Senior Development Lead, Individual Giving to support the growth and execution of our medium and large dollar donor program. This person will work closely with the Vice President of Institutional Development, as well as other cross-departmental executives, to support Higher Heights’ strategic development and growth of the organization. 

The primary function of the Senior Development Lead will be to support the Vice President to support the development and implementation of a major donor fundraising effort identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with donors who are giving gifts of $1,000+/year as well as facilitating introductions to prospective donors. Depending on the expertise and services offered, the lead may also support events, staffing in person or virtual donor meetings, call time, grant writing, etc. Prospective candidates should specify what services they would offer in their proposal. 

This is a remote, full-time temporary position that requires some travel as needed. It is expected to span 3 months, beginning July 21, 2025, and concluding October 31, 2025, with a detailed timeline to be established during the initial kickoff meeting. 

What You'll  Do:

• Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with a group of major donors who are giving gifts of $1,000+/year 
• Actively solicit gifts via various channels such as phone, email, etc. 
• Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and strategies to engage supporters and increase donor participation 
• Facilitate vetting processes for donors and surrogates 
• Assist with outreach and events for a rapidly growing membership, such as activations and correspondence 
• Perform duties as assigned to support the department and the Higher Height’s mission 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with a proven track record of supporting a major donor program in political or non-profit fundraising 
• Experience with 501(c)3, 501(c)4, and/or PAC organization structure 
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices. 
• The ideal candidate will be a team player, fast learner, and self-starter. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. 
• Existing relationships with donor networks in New York, Illinois, Washington DC, Georgia and/or California.

Compensation
The compensation range for this role is $6,250-$7,916/month. The final base will be determined
by various factors, including individual qualifications and internal parity, which will be objectively
assessed during the interview process.
