Job description

Cognitive is searching for a Program Security Officer (PSO) to be responsible for managing and overseeing security processes related to government contracts, including the processing of security clearances for new and existing employees. The PSO will ensure compliance with all relevant security regulations and policies, and work closely with various stakeholders to support the security needs of our government programs.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and facilitate the security clearance process for employees, including new hires and existing staff, ensuring timely and accurate submission of clearance applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant government security regulations, including NISPOM, DCSA, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all security clearances and related documentation. 
  • Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive information and ensure compliance with government standards.
  • Provide security training and briefings to employees, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and the importance of security protocols.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters, coordinating with government agencies, program managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to security incidents and violations, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the security clearance process and overall security management, recommending and implementing enhancements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security management, with a focus on government programs and clearance processing.
  • Strong understanding of NISPOM, DCSA, and other relevant government security regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and the Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) systems.
  • Certification in security management (e.g., Industrial Security Professional (ISP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP)).
