  • Submit month-end invoicing data to the Finance Department and stay updated on relevant rules and guidelines.

Description: 

The role of Coding Auditor is to manage engagements assigned to them. Auditors need to be able to communicate well with Directors, Associate Directors, Senior Managers, Practice Managers, billing staff and clients. An Auditors main objective is to take responsibility for his/her engagements.


Responsibilities:


JOB RELATED SKILLS


· Ability to do a variety of special projects.

· Ability to plan and control various types of engagements including maintaining acceptable realization.

· Become proficient in research abilities.

· Maintain accurate and timely coding staff audits.

· Perform and present client medical record audits.

· Ability to perform physician/provider education engagements.

· Ability to submit month end invoicing data to the Finance Department within established deadlines.

· Remain up to date on new rules/guidelines/laws.

· Assist in updating coding resource libraries.

· Ability to review pre and post payment payor requests (e.g., RAC, ADR).

· Assist coding team as time permits.

· Maintain communication and data sharing with designated clients.


PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT


· Begin to develop a relationship with the client so they look at you as an expert in the field.

· Draft ideas and gain approval to go to the next step.

· Be able to help plan client education meetings.

· Begin to develop a specialization, including obtaining the necessary training.

· Work in collaboration with Senior RCM Manager.

· Volunteer for at least one administrative task internal to the firm (i.e., internal inspection, writing for newsletter, presentations, etc.).

· Further develop both written and oral communication skills with clients, directors, managers and co-workers.

· Follow up and follow through on issues, questions, outstanding items and assist in wrap up of projects.

· Continue to improve time management skills so that you can effectively manage your time.

Requirements


Qualifications:


· Certified coder with a minimum of 5 years coding and auditing experience. Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) preferred.

· Proven track record in provider documentation development and education.

· Work towards obtaining certification in auditing. 

· Attention to detail, organized, and ability to prioritize and re-prioritize to meet deliverables.

· Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced production-oriented environment.

· Strong communication skills with ability to communicate effectively across various levels and departments.


Physical demands:


· Work may require sitting for long periods of time. 

· Occasionally lifting files or paper. 

· Operating a computer, keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, fax, scanner or other such office equipment through a normal business day. 

· Vision must be correctable to 20/20 for viewing information on computer screen and reading information in a paper format. 

· Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.

· Will require viewing computer screen and typing on a keyboard for prolonged periods of time.
