As we expand our presence in North America, we are seeking a dedicated Technical Manager – Blades to lead the execution, quality, and technical delivery of blade service operations across the region.


Position Summary:

The Technical Manager – Blades will be responsible for managing and supporting the technical execution of blade inspection, repair, and maintenance services in North America. This role will oversee a team of blade technicians and supervisors, ensure compliance with FairWind’s quality and safety standards, and provide hands-on expertise for complex blade projects. The role reports to the Global Head of Blades and works closely with the Operations Manager, Sales Manager – Blades, and HSEQ teams to drive excellence in field operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Field Support

  • Oversee the technical execution of all blade repair and inspection projects in North America.
  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert on blade damage assessment, repair methods, materials, and tooling.
  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to technicians in the field.

Team Development & Quality Oversight

  • Lead, train, and mentor blade supervisors and technicians to ensure consistent service quality and adherence to repair standards.
  • Support the recruitment and development of a high-performing technical team.
  • Conduct quality audits and evaluations of completed work to drive continuous improvement.

Planning & Project Execution

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Leads to plan blade work scopes, resources, and schedules.
  • Ensure technical compliance with OEM specifications and client expectations.
  • Track and manage repair documentation, reporting, and follow-up for all blade services.

Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients during project execution.
  • Interface with internal teams including Sales, Operations, and HSEQ to ensure alignment and project readiness.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and technical solution design when required.


Requirements
  • 5+ years of technical experience in wind turbine blade inspection and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Expert knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and blade repair techniques (LEP, structural, tip repair, lightning damage, etc.).
  • Certifications in blade repair techniques (e.g., GWO Blade Repair, OEM-specific training) strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to lead teams and provide hands-on technical support.
  • Experience working with multiple OEM platforms (e.g., Siemens Gamesa, GE, Vestas, Nordex) is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and digital project documentation systems.
  • Willingness to travel regionally (~25–40%) to support project execution and team development.

Additional Information:

  • This role is eligible for a hybrid or remote working model depending on location.
  • Proximity to a FairWind office (Houston preferred) is advantageous but not required.
