Job description

This is a remote position with an ideal base location in Dallas, TX. The AVP will be responsible for 14 markets across Heaven Hill's Central Division.

What the Role Is 

The AVP Sales, Central Division will represent our portfolio, while managing our network of distributors and company sales representatives, to meet and exceed the company’s business plans and performance objectives. This position will be primarily responsible for managing the Central Division business for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits (SGWS). 

How You Will Spend Your Time?

  • Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with both the Transatlantic and full book teams within SGWS Central Division.   
  • Be the primary contact for the SVP/GM Transatlantic Central Region at SGWS.
  • Lead the Joint Business Planning process for the Central Division.  
  • Manage the implementation and execution of the business plan with distributors, holding them accountable, primarily with SGWS.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with distributors and accounts to achieve agreed upon distribution and sales goals
  • Build long-term working relationships with the senior distributor management, primarily SGWS leadership for the Central Division.  
  • Identify critical, high payoff strategies and prioritize efforts consistent with the organization's goals
  • Monitor market performance (depletions, shipments, pricing, lasted estimates, promotional materials)
  • Ensure agreed upon sales volume and Net Sales Value (NSV) goals are achieved while aggressively controlling costs within the work unit making suggestions that enhance the organization's financial position, spending, and profitability
  • Display vision and a keen sense of the future, seeking new business/distribution opportunities
  • Constantly assess our team structure and its efficiencies throughout the division 
  • Proactively analyze potential problems to avoid emergency/crisis situations
  • Inform management of changing competitive situations
  • Manage and develop two Directors and Regional Managers within the division, holding them accountable for results and team development

Who You Are… 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field 
  • Minimum ten (10) years of supplier sales management experience in distilled spirits/wine industry 
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales systems
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes assessment of customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Excellent critical thinking skills including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Analytical skills, in particular gathering data from a wide variety of sources, and presenting it in formats suitable for a wide variety of audiences
  • Effective managerial and presentation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload while maintaining quality and meeting multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and keep senior management informed of all concerns, changes, and developments
  • Must be customer –centric with good negotiation and business expansion skills
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, syndicated and consumer data 
  • Proficient with distributor dashboards for communication and analytics of the business

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
