About the job

Our entire team takes pride in our hard work and diligence to support life-changing instrumentation. Where others see difficulty, we see opportunity and potential, innovating with level heads and a positive outlook. If you have a drive and are motivated to change the world, come join our team.

At Halma, we grow a safer, cleaner, healthier future for everyone, every day. As part of our mission, we’re seeking a talent professional with deep Workday Payroll and Absence configuration experience who’s ready to go beyond transactional tasks and play a strategic role in shaping our future. You’ll partner with several stakeholders to deliver impactful technology solutions—supporting our people platform and enabling digital transformation across Halma’s 40+ businesses.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the primary Workday Payroll and Absence configuration expert with a desire to expand beyond these functional areas. You’ll ensure accurate, compliant payroll operations across our platform.
  • Translate complex business requirements into efficient system solutions—earning trust across HR, finance, and Halma’s ecosystem of companies.
  • Configure, test, and maintain payroll and absence features that help streamline transaction processing for our group of companies.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions by helping onboard new companies to our payroll and people systems.
  • Participate in Workday releases, change control, and ongoing enhancements with a strong quality and documentation mindset.
  • Develop user guides, knowledge transfer and training materials tailored to Workday Payroll end-users.
  • Perform root cause analysis of payroll and absence issues and lead resolution efforts while identifying recurring issues and contributing to process and system improvements that reduce support volume over time.
  • Participate in Workday biannual release management with a focus on payroll and absence feature updates.
  • Act as a member of the change control committee. Will ensure changes are properly logged with documentation that fully describes the request.  Adheres to all change procedures.
  • Serve as the first line of support for Workday Payroll-related queries through Freshservice, delivering responsive, solutions-oriented service to internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a contact for ADP SmartCompliance, proactively resolving issues and ensuring timely submission of documents to support payroll operations.
  • Will work to integrate acquired companies onto Halma's people platform and play a role in improving the integration tools and processes, ensuring they are repeatable and optimized.

What You Bring

  • 4–6 years of experience with hands-on Workday Payroll and absence configuration.
  • Hands-on configuration and understanding of payroll and absence calculations including but not limited to: tax setup, integrations (e.g., ADP), compliance requirements, accrual calculations, time off plan setup.  Knowledge of the time-tracking and benefits touchpoints between payroll and absence a plus.
  • A proactive, process-improvement mindset with the ability to manage complexity and explain technical topics clearly.
  • A desire to learn and grow in other Workday functional areas.
  • Strong orientation towards continuous learning.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working across multiple business units or global environments is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Workday certification a bonus.
