At Skyven Technologies, we have developed a revolutionary heat pump technology to decarbonize industrial heat and move the needle on climate change. Our technologies have the potential to completely eliminate on-site CO2 emissions from industrial steam. We implement this technology through an innovative Energy-as-a-Service model that provides clean process heat to industrial facilities. We identify, fund, design, build, and install our cutting-edge, decarbonization technologies to help industrial manufacturers reach their sustainability goals, while minimizing their risk and reducing their operational expenses.
We’re seeking an experience PLC Engineer to support the development and validation of control logic for our steam-generating heat pump system using Siemens S7 PLCs. The role will require approximately 20 hours per week for 4–6 weeks, with a possibility of extension. Compensation will be offered at a negotiable hourly rate.
Skyven’s steam-generating heat pump system relies on Siemens S7 PLCs to manage complex control sequences for industrial heat processes. The PLC code is in an early stage of development with an established structure but is not yet polished, requiring in-depth effort to understand and optimize. The PLC Engineer will not need to comprehensively understand the entire codebase and system but will focus on developing and refining specific sections of Siemens S7 PLC code that integrate into the broader system.
Skyven’s steam-generating heat pump system uses Siemens S7 PLCs to control complex industrial heat processes. The PLC code is in early development with an established structured foundation but needs refinement. You won’t need to master the entire codebase; instead, you’ll focus on specific portions of the code, working from a provided Sequence of Operations (SOO) and collaborating with our internal team to integrate your work.
Requirements
Q: Am I expected to create a new PLC system from scratch?
A: No. You’ll be working within an existing structure and building out specific sections based on a defined Sequence of Operations.
Q: Do I need to understand the entire system and ensure it works perfectly?
A: No. You’ll focus on assigned parts of the code. System integration and oversight will be managed by the project lead.
Q: Does experience with other PLC brands qualify me?
A: Siemens S7 experience is preferred. However, strong experience with other PLC platforms and the ability to quickly adapt may be considered.
Q: Is experience with unpolished or early-stage codebases required?
A: Yes. You should be comfortable working with partially completed code and offering constructive feedback.
Q: Is there potential for future work?
A: Possibly. There may be opportunities for extension, new projects, or even a full-time role, but ongoing work is not guaranteed.
