Description
SUMMARY
The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for accurately managing residential real estate loan application data and documentation through established systems, and analyzing it to ensure it is accurate and complies with conventional/conforming, FHA, VA and current bank regulations and policies. The Mortgage Loan Processor works closely with Mortgage Loan Originators and Borrowers to administer mortgage loan applications and evaluates borrower and subject property eligibility based on loan application documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties, as assigned, including cross training across other departments, as necessary.
- Reviews mortgage application to ensure full completion
- Works closely with Mortgage Loan Originator to administer the loan application submission to underwriting as well as communicate to the MLO any changes in status that may require additional information from the borrowers
- Obtains and reviews mortgage loan documentation by ordering credit reports, land surveys, appraisals, title commitments and related information (follows up to ensure that all are received and completed in a timely manner)
- Assembles, verifies and orders required loan documents from borrower and verification sources
- Reviews data to ensure accuracy, resolves exceptions, and completes submission packages for underwriting by established deadlines
- Interprets Underwriting results and collects required information required to clear contingencies and satisfy all conditions for final approval
- Maintains excellent customer relations throughout the loan process by anticipating and resolving customer issues as they arise
- Provides customers with updated and periodic information regarding their mortgage loan application and provides timely reminders to customers who have not submitted required information
- Coordinates loan closing dates with title company, borrower, seller and other interested parties by established deadlines
- Participates in job specific training and other various Bank training programs, as necessary
- Maintains current knowledge of internal risk controls and loss prevention, including reporting of suspicious or unusual customer activity per Bank policy
- Maintains current knowledge and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and all established Bank policies and procedures, including internal audit controls related to department operations
- Maintains current knowledge of all rules, regulations, and laws as they apply to BSA/OFAC/USA Patriot Act/CIP/AML
Qualifications

- A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or GED
- At least two years of mortgage industry experience preferred primarily as a loan processor working with conventional/conforming, FHA, and VA loans sold in the secondary market and/or with a bank or credit union
- A Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field may be substituted in lieu of the work experience requirement
- Must be a hard working team player with professional attitude and excellent organizational and customer relation skills
- Must work with a sense of urgency in order to meet deadlines and be able to multi-task.
- Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired
ORGANIZATION
- This position reports to the Mortgage Operations Manager
- This position does not oversee other positions
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
All employees are required to attend scheduled mandatory trainings and complete online regulatory compliance training courses applicable to their specific job function. In all situations, employees must ensure that their actions fully comply with all federal banking laws and regulations, including internal bank policies and procedures. Failure to adhere to these requirements will be grounds for disciplinary action, including probation and possible termination.
