Description

About Us: ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision.

Residential Treatment Centers for Correctional Clients operate 24 hours per day with on-duty staff for our clients. Staff monitor client behaviors and whereabouts in the community and enforce program rules and accountability. Substance abuse counseling, cognitive-based programming and correctional case management are provided in an intensive setting. Clients can be granted gradual re-entry into the community based on earned privileges. All service components of our Residential Treatment Centers emphasize trauma-informed care and employ an individualized approach to each client.

This is a full-time direct service position in a Madison-area Residential Services Program.  Cognitive programming must be delivered in a secular manner free of religious components, following the agency prescribed curriculum. 

The person in this position is responsible for providing group facilitation for: Healthy Relationships Group, Seeking Safety Group, SOT Education Group, AODA education Group and other groups as required.  The person in this position has involvement with clients in group settings, serving as a facilitator, and provides weekly individual counseling sessions as needed. 

The full time Cognitive Group Facilitator maintains and updates client files, writes daily progress notes, develops and updates treatment plans with client input, generates required reports, and creates discharge summaries. 

Duties:

Treatment Interventions and Other Programming:

  • Facilitate treatment groups utilizing the prescribed curricula on an as needed basis.  This will include but is not limited to Healthy Relationships Seeking Safety Group, and SOT Education Group.  Evaluate client participation and document their treatment progress in their chart using progress notes (Secure Manage)
  • Track dosage hour chart in communication with facility case manager
  • Recommend referrals to other community services/agencies as needed
  • Maintain ongoing verbal and written communication with all co-workers, including case manager, site supervisor, and direct supervisor
  • Develop, periodically review, and update individual client treatment plans in collaboration with each client
  • Maintain communication with co-workers and DOC regarding client behaviors, treatment progress and behavioral documents

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain appropriate documentation as required in relation to group/individual client services
  • Complete intake and orientation materials upon the admission of new clients
  • Maintain client files and adhere to all laws, policies, and rules regarding confidentiality
  • Maintain appropriate staffing notes, write client file case notes, prepare client reports, and complete discharge/termination summaries in a timely manner

Other Duties

  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain valid driver’s license, good driving record and proof of insurance in order to use agency vehicle as form of transportation to other agency locations
Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Group facilitation experience with correctional clients.
  2. Corrections experience required, residential or treatment center preferred.
  3. Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  4. Knowledge and use of Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to perform job duties with limited supervision.
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client and agency records.
  9. Must adhere to the Department of Corrections (DOC) Fraternization Policies.
  10. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
