Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:

$178,500 - $210,000

Job Summary

This leader will oversee a high-performing sales organization, driving accountability, operational excellence, and executional rigor. With a sharp eye on market dynamics and evolving customer needs, the Senior Director will identify growth opportunities, optimize channel performance, and deploy initiatives that elevate profitability and strengthen Purple’s competitive position. Success in this role requires a blend of strategic vision, commercial acumen, and the ability to inspire teams to exceed ambitious sales targets.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own the execution of the wholesale sales strategy for the Independent retailers, driving revenue, margin expansion, and sustainable market share growth across key retail channels.
  • Lead and develop a high-impact sales leadership team, directly managing Director-level reports. Foster a culture of accountability, strategic alignment, and performance excellence across regions and top-tier accounts.
  • Drive channel growth by securing new wholesale partnerships and expanding existing strategic relationships, with a focus on long-term value creation and customer success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Innovation, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless execution, operational excellence, and brand consistency at every retail touchpoint.
  • Oversee accurate sales forecasting, budget planning, and performance analytics, ensuring clarity on key performance indicators and swift action on deviations from plan.
  • Lead contract negotiations and commercial agreements with national and regional retail partners, ensuring terms align with profitability goals and strategic priorities.
  • Monitor retail trends, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic pivots and capitalize on emerging market opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% to maintain strong field visibility, partner engagement, and frontline team alignment.

Required Skills, Education, Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Extensive experience in wholesale sales leadership
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Deep understanding of wholesale distribution channels
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience developing and implementing sales strategies
  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales tools
  • Experience managing and mentoring sales teams
  • Ability to travel as needed
