The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and optimization of testing processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. This role combines hands-on testing with strategic oversight, mentoring junior team members, and driving continuous improvement in testing methodologies. The Senior Test Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and implement comprehensive testing frameworks, with a strong focus on automation, performance, and compliance in highly regulated environments such as healthcare technology.
Define and implement comprehensive testing strategies, covering functional, regression, performance, security, and usability testing.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure test plans align with business objectives and technical requirements.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior test engineers, fostering a culture of quality and collaboration.
Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for complex software applications.
Perform both manual and automated testing to identify software defects and validate functionality across web, mobile, API, and backend systems.
Lead exploratory testing sessions to uncover potential edge cases and ensure software robustness.
Build, maintain, and optimize automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
Use performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner to validate system scalability and reliability.
Identify, log, prioritize, and track defects using tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
Conduct root cause analysis of defects and provide actionable insights to development teams.
Validate defect fixes through thorough retesting and regression testing.
Work closely with development, product management, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment on testing goals and requirements.
Communicate testing progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders through detailed reports and dashboards.
Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Drive the adoption of best practices in testing, including shift-left testing approaches, risk-based testing, and test data management.
Stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and technologies in software testing to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA process.
Proactively identify areas of improvement in the testing process and implement innovative solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on both manual and automated testing.
Strong expertise in test automation frameworks and scripting languages such as Java, or C#.
Proven experience with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr) and defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools for continuous testing.
In-depth understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust, Gatling, K6 etc) and security testing principles.
Lead test automation initiatives or independently manage test automation and performance testing projects, driving innovation and continuous improvement in testing strategies and frameworks.
Familiarity with healthcare or regulated industries, including knowledge of compliance standards such as HIPAA or FDA.
Expertise in monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
