Do you want to join Hornet? We are looking for an experienced Android developer to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about building user-friendly, performant, and accessible Android applications and thrives in a collaborative, fully remote environment.

Your Tasks

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to build and optimize user-facing features.  
  • Develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin & Java.  
  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code with a strong emphasis on performance and accessibility.  
  • Contribute to technical discussions, architecture planning, and code reviews.  
  • Continuously learn and apply best practices in Android development.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth user experiences.  

Your Profile & Experience

  • You have a track record of designing (software) and executing a non-trivial Android app  
  • You have extensive experience working in Android Studio, git repositories, and git-flow practices  
  • You are up to date on the best design patterns and architectural approaches for app development
  • You are practiced in material design and have an eye for creating animated and expressive experiences
  • You know reactive programming principles and have experience with Android coroutines  
  • You have experience in working within the Firebase ecosystem and its various toolsets, as well as CI and unit testing  
  • You feel comfortable working in a remote team  
  • You like taking responsibility for your work, and you can deliver production-ready quality  
  • An eagerness to learn, grow, and adapt to new technologies and challenges.  
  • A collaborative mindset, open to feedback, and ready to contribute to team success.  
  • Passion for serving the LGBTQ+ community or an interest in contributing to an inclusive and meaningful mission.
