Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics System sector is currently hiring a Sr Principal Supplier Quality Engineer/Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer. This is a remote opportunity however, candidate must be located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area.  Position requires extensive travel in the Los Angeles area. Position also requires ability to fly commercially on very short notice to meet company commitments.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer level or a Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer Level.

Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform Quality System audits
  • Perform Process Product audits
  • Perform Counterfeit Parts / DFARS audits

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science AND 5 years of quality experience, OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of quality experience
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of time
  • Valid State Driver’s License to operate a personal motor vehicle
  • Own dependable motor vehicle to travel to local suppliers
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret Clearance and Special Program Access

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science AND 8 years of quality experience, OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of quality experience
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of time
  • Valid State Driver’s License to operate a personal motor vehicle
  • Own dependable motor vehicle to travel to local suppliers
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret Clearance and Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified AS9100 Quality System Auditor
  • Aerospace Manufacturing Certifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00Salary Range 2: $113,500.00 - $141,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
