We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Application Developer to oversee a team of developers and drive the successful execution of application development projects. This role requires a hands-on leader who can enforce best practices, guide technical implementation, and ensure high-quality code delivery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining the technical "how" behind development goals and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of developers, ensuring smooth and timely project execution.
  • Define and enforce development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Break down user stories into technical tasks to support sprint planning and development workflows.
  • Serve as the technical decision-maker on how goals will be achieved, including architecture and implementation strategies.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and guide developers to foster skill growth and team development.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and other cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and delivery.

 

Key Focus Areas

  • Development Leadership: Direct the day-to-day activities of the development team and promote a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Execution: Translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure high-quality code delivery within project timelines.

 

Decision-Making Authority

  • Determine technical direction, project scope, and individual/team task assignments.
  • Guide architecture, tooling, and implementation decisions across projects.

 

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain regular communication with the Head of Development to report progress and raise issues.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals, priorities, and timelines.
  • Act as a liaison between developers and other departments to facilitate smooth handoffs and integration.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in software development with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead developer role, preferably in agile and fast-paced environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience and proven expertise also considered.
  • Tech Proficiency: Expertise in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript) and frameworks such as .NET, Spring Boot, or Node.js. Strong knowledge of API development, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Front-End Knowledge: Familiarity with front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js and responsive design principles.
  • DevOps & Tools: Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and database management (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor developers, manage code quality, and drive successful project outcomes across departments.
  • Problem Solver: Thinks critically and strategically to resolve development challenges, improve systems, and optimize performance.
  • Detail-Oriented: Delivers clean, maintainable code with a focus on scalability, security, and long-term value.

Compensation and Benefits:
