Job description

The mission of the Sourcing Specialist at Mathiesen is to strategically identify and secure high-quality raw materials suppliers for the pharmaceutical, personal care, and food sectors, ensuring cost-effective, reliable, and compliant supply. The role supports supply chain reliability and competitiveness by building strong supplier partnerships, monitoring market trends, and collaborating with commercial, technical, and logistics teams to deliver added value and sustainable sourcing solutions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and evaluate national and international suppliers for Industrial raw materials across broad sectors (main focus Pharma, Personal Care, Food).
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contractual conditions aligned with business goals.
  • Monitor supplier performance (OTIF, quality, compliance) and maintain strong, long-term relationships.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives and provide market intelligence to guide purchasing strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (sales, logistics, regulatory, technical) to ensure sourcing aligns with commercial and operational needs.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership and propose improvements to procurement processes and risk mitigation plans.
  • Track global market trends, commodity pricing, and regulatory changes that may impact sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure supplier documentation, specifications, and certifications comply with internal and external standards.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing data in ERP systems and contribute to procurement reporting and analytics.
  • Responsible for managing post-sales claims with suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, International Trade, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, ideally in industrial  raw materials or chemical distribution.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing practices and logistics, particularly in India and/or Asia region.
  • English: Upper-intermediate to advanced (mandatory); additional languages are a plus.
  • Availability to travel frequently for supplier visits or trade fairs.
