Teton Cancer Institute is looking for a Social Worker (MSW) to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:       

The social worker provides clinically and culturally competent guidance and teaches skills to individuals, couples, families, and groups who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. Documentation of clinical work is accurate and completed on the same date as service. This individual seeks to improve upon clinical competencies through regular supervision, consultation, and continuing education.  The social worker may also perform other duties in the facility as deemed necessary by TCI management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for pre-registering/registering patients for scheduled admissions, emergency visits, and outpatient procedures. Obtaining information or verifying information already on file including demographics, physician, emergency numbers and insurance information.
  2. Responsible for obtaining and entering accurate insurance information as well as running eligibility. Will maintain working knowledge on in/out of network insurances, arranging primary and secondary insurance, eligibility requirements, and insurance types.
  3. Responsible for scanning in patient information including but not limited to patient orders, advance directives, identification cards, and other documents as needed. Responsible for participating in required department scanning submitted by other disciplines. 
  4. Responsible for obtaining signature on all appropriate consent forms including Conditions of Admission and initiating the Advanced Directive process. Notifies patient of programs available to patients as appropriate.  
  5. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the manager, supervisor, team lead, nurse managers, coworkers, patients, families, and physicians. Communicates any incomplete registrations, unattained consents, or incomplete tasks to the next shift.
  6. Receives patient payments, posts and makes a daily report of cash receipts.  Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  7. Responsible, when previous arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, to collect such payments and record payment including obtaining signature for payment arrangements and automatic payments.
  8. Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available. Responsible to knowing Admissions processes and being familiar with Admissions services, knowing where to find education and resources.
  9. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  10. Has ongoing situational awareness specific to patient/visitor needs, lobby control, and wait times. Ensures that the patient is the first priority and that all patient/visitor needs are met to the best of our ability.
  11. Has basic understanding of billing system and is able to post payments, print receipts and reports, and answer basic billing/insurance questions.
  12. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and understands processes related to anonymous status of a patient.
  13. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  14. Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service and staff meetings as required. Attends all other meetings as required.
  15. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
  16. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
  17. Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to hospital policy.
  18. Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
  19. Must maintain a professional attitude.
  20. Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code.
  21. Responsible for admitting walk in patients according to EMTALA guidelines where/when appropriate.
  22. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Must have a Master's degree (M.S.) in social service from college or university. Must have current BLS or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical experience in providing direct social work services in individual, couples, family, and group modalities.  Preferred experience in a healthcare facility.

Language/Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Mental Capabilities: Must have the capacity to work with a variety of clientele and conceptualize their concerns accurately during the interactions so as to provide relevant and meaningful clinical interventions specific to their needs. Must also have the ability to understand new scientific findings presented in peer-reviewed journals and clinical training with the skill to then implement this knowledge in a clinical setting.
