Job Summary:

This role will largely be focused on Real Estate accounting but will also split time with the Investment Accounting and IT Accounting teams to work on projects as needed, including IT project accounting and capitalization. Primary focus on analyzing, preparing, and processing accounting transactions; researching and implementing new and existing accounting guidance, documenting technical accounting conclusions and accounting policies, and supporting the preparation of financial statements and management reporting. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 30% - Lead and/or review processes to compile and communicate financial results, including regulatory and management reporting. Independently interpret and analyze financial results. Perform internal controls to mitigate risks associated with financial and management reporting. 
  • 30% - Maintain accuracy of financial data through properly preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, monthly reconciliations and other month end close activities. Perform internal controls to mitigate risks associated with accounting and business processes. 
  • 25% - Proactively develop collaborative relationships across the Company’s various divisions and departments to aid in efficient and proactive problem solving. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and independently implementing solutions to improve and/or automate processes and controls. Create and present ad hoc financial analysis demonstrating industry knowledge. Take a lead role on project teams. 
  • 15% - Lead and perform research, development, and implementation of new and existing accounting guidance related to U.S. GAAP, IFRS, Statutory Accounting Principles, and emerging issues to serve as a subject matter expert. 

Skills and Background You’ll Need:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

Certification: CPA, CMA, or MBA (or actively pursuing) (highly preferred)

Experience:

  • 4-6 years progressively responsible experience in the preparation and interpretation of financial results, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, working across organizations to drive improvements and work through roadblocks. 
  • Proven business partnering skills, crisp and concise communication to a variety of levels. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations, including dynamic and rapidly changing work environments.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$85,750.00 - $125,750.00
