General Description:

The Senior Manager, R&D Business & Data Analyst acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and Digital/Data teams to deliver a portfolio of data capabilities that drive R&D decision-making, AI readiness, and operational excellence. You’ll set strategy, prioritize initiatives, and ensure that data products consistently meet evolving business needs across Research, Clinical, and Regulatory functions.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Business Needs & Value Definition
    • Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
    • Define the team’s roadmap in alignment with R&D priorities and enterprise data strategy.
    • Lead initiatives based on potential business impact, resource availability, and risk management.
  • Team Development & Oversight
    • Mentor and coach junior and lead business analysts, ensuring clear career paths and skills development.
    • Allocate resources, monitor team velocity, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management
    • Partner with R&D executives to align on objectives, secure funding, and report program status.
    • Liaise with IT, Data Governance, and Digital leadership to resolve cross-departmental dependencies.
  • Delivery & Quality Assurance
    • Implement governance for requirement traceability, test rigor, and UAT sign-off across all projects.
    • Oversee KPI dashboards for the entire portfolio, driving corrective actions when targets slip.
  • Implementation Coordination
    • Serve as the primary liaison between business users, IT, and data engineering to drive on-time delivery of data products and capabilities.
    • Track project milestones, manage risks/issues, and escalate blockers to R&D Data Governance leadership.
  • Change Management & Adoption
    • Sponsor organization-wide training programs and change-readiness assessments.
    • Champion user communities, feedback forums, and metrics-driven optimization of data products.

Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 7+ years’ combined experience in business analysis, data analysis, or program management—at least 3 years in a managerial role within Pharma R&D.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multiple, high-visibility data initiatives with significant business impact.
  • Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, strategic planning, and organizational change.
  • Strong background in data governance, regulatory compliance, and AI/analytics solution delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Salary Range: $137,600.00 - $182,600.00 annually

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
