Job description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop experience to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies and techniques
  • Assist in review of estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
  • Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc., as required
  • May assist in the preparation of studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required
  • Procure pricing form subcontractors and material vendors
  • Pick up plans and specifications, attend pre-bid meetings and deliver proposals
  • Perform quantity take-off
  • Assist with collecting cost data to be used as a reference in future estimates

Qualifications:

  • BS. in civil engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or equivalent experience
  • A thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques is required
  • Knowledge of construction contracts is a must
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Experience in construction estimating and related functions preferred
  • Experience with heavy civil and utility construction including public works (airport, transit and bridges), gas and electrical transmission, energy plant construction is a plus
  • Fluency in HCSS Heavy Bid Software preferred

Benefits:

  • Base salary between $130,000 - $165,000.
  • Annual bonus.
  • 90% cost of healthcare paid for by company. 
  • 3 weeks starting PTO, 12 public holidays.
